What can I do about loss of sexual desire?

Loss of sexual desire can be attributed to a number of different factors, it could be any of the following:

  • Stress

  • Anxiety

  • Fatigue

  • Menopause

  • Abdominal surgery (hysterectomy etc.)

  • PMS

  • Post Natal Depression

  • Breast Feeding

  • Hormone Replacement Therapy

  • Estrangement from partner

  • Misdirected sexual desire

  • Physiological causes

If you have experienced loss of desire for only a short time, it may take care of itself. If the loss of desire persists, ask your doctor to refer you to a sex therapist who can help. Remember to talk to your partner.

There are a number of things that you can try on your own to help increase your libido and get you thinking sexy again. Many people shy away from sex toys because they think that they're unnatural or awkward, however they help a lot of people to start taking care of themselves sexually. With or without a partner, sex toys can help you find new and exciting ways of pleasuring yourself and enhance your sexual relationship with your partner.

In most cases, a person experiencing loss of sexual desire would benefit from some work on their self esteem. There are many avenues that can add to your self esteem here’s one we recommend:

A Just For Me Day – I’m getting Sexy Back!!

  • Set aside a WHOLE day just for you (arrange for the family to vacate!)

  • Set a time with your partner for your date tonight!

  • Start with a long soak in the bath – relax!

  • Book an appointment for your hair, nails, waxing, facial, pedicure, spray tan – anything that makes you feel great and sexy

  • (This goes for the guys too! But may include a round of golf, trip to the hardware store, let your imagination run wild )

  • Buy some new lingerie, a new sex toy, a movie and don’t forget the massage lotion!

  • Chill your favourite bottle of choice

  • Light the candles

  • Order in a nice meal (no cooking today!)

  • Turn off the phones!

  • Greet your partner at the door – make them feel special too

  • Let nature take over! – relax and enjoy your time together.
